Another gem, Nessebar, is built on rocky terrain, surrounded entirely by water. There are only two ways to enter—either by a scenic two-lane road that starts at a unique wooden windmill or by boat. Much like Sozopol, Nessebar is a maze of charming cobbled streets leading to historical landmarks, such as the beautifully preserved Church of Saints Archangels Michael and Gabriel and the impressive ruins of St. Sophia Church.

A little further away

Just about 20 km from Kiten, you’ll find Sozopol, one of Bulgaria’s best-preserved ancient towns. Since 1970, it has been a UNESCO-protected site. If you get the chance, spending a day wandering its charming streets is a must! The old town is filled with picturesque stone-and-wood houses, historic churches, and fascinating ruins. A visit to the Archaeological Museum, located right by the sea, offers a glimpse into Sozopol’s rich past.

From Kiten, you can take a bus to Sozopol for around 8 BGN per person. If you're up for a slightly longer trip, Nessebar is about 80 km away and is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This stunning town is considered an architectural reserve, with ongoing archaeological excavations continuing to uncover its hidden treasures.

Exploring Kiten

Kiten is a quieter destination, ideal for family vacations and children's summer camps. However, if you're in the mood for some fun, the town’s central promenade is the place to be. Here, you’ll find lively bars, restaurants with live music, and spots to dance the night away. For kids, there are playgrounds, small amusement parks, trampolines, and fun fair games with exciting prizes.

Kiten is a peaceful seaside town located on the southeastern coast of Bulgaria. Unlike the northern part of the coast, this region is rich in lush greenery. Fruit trees like pomegranates, cherries, and peaches flourish here, alongside Bulgaria’s iconic roses.

A scenic coastal promenade connects South Beach and Atliman, offering a delightful way to take in the surrounding nature.

Let's go to the beach

For those seeking more adventure, there are plenty of options—from thrilling rides on inflatable boats over the open sea to kite surfing. You can also rent sports equipment such as kayaks, pedal boats, and diving gear. Plus, scattered along the shore, you'll find cozy little restaurants where you can grab a snack or sip a refreshing drink.

Or even two! Kiten is a charming little town embraced by two beautiful beaches. The larger one, known as South Beach (Južen Plaj) by the locals, stretches far and wide, while the smaller one, Atliman, lies closer to the neighboring town of Primorsko.

Both beaches are perfect for families with kids, as the water remains shallow for quite a distance. Atliman Beach also offers fun attractions for the little ones, including slides, inflatable castles, and floating bridges.
